La teanina è un aminoacido che si trova soprattutto nelle foglie di tè verde e in alcuni funghi, e può essere ottenuto da fermentazione batterica. La teanina è un derivato dell’acido glutammico e un precursore del GABA, infatti funge da anti stress e anti ansia.

La teanina migliora l’umore, e soprattutto la qualità del sonno anche se non induce ad esso. Diversi studi dimostrano che una sua combinazione con magnolia e melissa funge da antidepressivo e anti ansia.
Il dosaggio consigliato è di 200-400mg al giorno. Un eccesso riduce la pressione sanguigna. L’assunzione di integratori è stata studiata per periodi brevi, non sono studiati gli effetti su periodi più lunghi.
