Il Tè verde si ottiene dalle foglie giovani e fresche del Camelia sinensis, un piccolo albero di origine cinese. Le foglie vengono trattate prima di subire i processi di fermentazione. Mentre le foglie che subiscono la fermentazione prima di essere essiccate danno vita al Tè nero, più ricco di caffeina rispetto a quello verde.
Il tè verde ha proprietà antiossidanti grazie alla presenza di catechine, sostanze presenti anche nella cioccolata, nel vino e nelle mele. Il tè verde ha la capacità di ridurre i livelli di colesterolo LDL e dei trigliceridi, riducendo la probabilità di incorrere in malattie cardiovascolari. Un’altra funzione è quella di proteggere i neuroni e migliorare la memoria e l’apprendimento. La caffeina presente funge da stimolante, il suo effetto però è controbilanciato dalla teanina che favorisce il rilassamento riducendo ansia e stress. Stimola l’ossidazione dei grassi e stimola la diuresi.
L’aspetto più importante secondo me è quello inerente alla caffeina e alla teanina. In pratica queste due sostanze si annullano e si verifica un effetto “vigilante” ma rilassato allo stesso tempo. Migliora la concentrazione per merito della caffeina ma non si verifica quell’agitazione che non permette un sonno adeguato, ad esempio. Il tè verde decaffeinato favorisce il sonno e migliora la qualità di esso.
Una tazza al giorno risulta un ottimo dosaggio ma attenzione a non esagerare! I polifenoli in eccesso possono portare a reazioni ossidanti (invecchiamento, problemi cardiovascolari, cancro). Si consiglia di lasciare in infusione il tè per 1-2 minuti ad una temperatura di 70-80 gradi per non distruggere parte dei principi attivi.
