La Rhodiola rosea è una pianta erbacea originaria delle zone fredde. La troviamo nelle Alpi, nelle zone più fredde della siberia, della Mongolia e del Tibet. Può arrivare a 70 cm di altezza e presenta fiori gialli e profumati (simile a quello delle rose, da qui il nome “rosea”). Questa pianta veniva utilizzata dai vichinghi come integratore sotto forma di tisana per aumentare la resistenza fisica, era un valido alleato per i periodi freddi.
Altri popoli la utilizzavano per rinforzare le difese immunitarie, come antiossidante e come stimolante, insomma era una pianta tuttofare fin dall’antichità. I nostri antenati utilizzavano molto spesso le piante trovate in natura per curarsi. Sulla Rhodiola Rosea ci sono molti studi che ne confermano l’utilità.
Le sue proprietà confermate dalle ricerche moderne sono di miglioramento della memoria e delle funzioni cognitive, miglioramento della resistenza alla fatica, purificante per fegato e reni.
I costituenti più interessanti della Rhodiola sono il salidroside e le rosavine (il rapporto deve essere di 3:1 in favore delle rosavine). La Rhodiola come anticipato, è considerato un agente naturale in grado di aumentare la resistenza e la capacità di adattamento dell’organismo.
Molti studi sono stati effettuati dall’ex URSS per aiutare i propri soldati in battaglia. La Rhodiola veniva usata sotto forma di farmaco per sostituire sostanze come cocaina e amfetamine! Questi studi dimostrarono come la Rhodiola rosea riesca a dare energia ma allo stesso tempo calma, concentrazione e tranquillità, cosa che non accade ovviamente per le sostanze sopra citate che oltretutto causano anche depressione sul lungo periodo!
Oltre a dare energia, la rhodiola facilita il sonno e il rilassamento. Molti studi dimostrano come la Rhodiola rosea aumenti l’ATP in muscoli e cervello, miglioramenti nella sintesi proteica e nel metabolismo dei grassi. Il dosaggio non deve essere eccessivo, al momento gli studi suggeriscono dai 100 ai 400mg al giorno, anche se gli sportivi possono superare senza problemi i 700mg. L’effetto è quasi immediato e dura diverse ore, per questo si consiglia di assumerla al mattino in quanto potrebbe disturbare il sonno se assunta troppo vicino al sonno.
Gli effetti collaterali possono essere secchezza delle fauci e vertigini. Come sempre suggerisco di chiedere consiglio al proprio medico prima di assumere questo integratore.
