PABA è l’acronimo di acido para-amminobenzoico.
Il PABA è anche volgarmente noto come vitamina B10, in virtù della sua importanza nella sintesi della vitamina B9 (acido folico).
La vitamina B10 è determinante per il metabolismo delle proteine e favorisce l’efficacia della vitamina B5. Promuove la sintesi di melanina e aumenta le concentrazioni di sangue arterioso. E’ un ingrediente fondamentale delle creme protettive solari. Perde la sua efficacia con alcool e cotture prolungate.
In quali alimenti è presente la Vitamina B10?
E’ presente in cavoli, patate, arachidi. legumi verdi, funghi e soprattutto cereali, lievito di birra e fegato. Il fabbisogno va dai 20 ai 30mg al giorno. E’ difficile una sua carenza seguendo una dieta normale. L’abuso di alcool può portare ad una carenza e i sintomi sono: nausea e vomito, asma, prurito.
