La vitamina B8, o biotina o vitamina H o vitamina I, appartiene al gruppo delle vitamine idrosolubili, ovvero quelle che devono essere regolarmente assunte attraverso l’alimentazione. In quali alimenti è presente la vitamina B8?
La vitamina B8 è presente in molti alimenti, in particolare nel latte e nel formaggio, nel fegato, nel tuorlo d’uovo, nelle arachidi, nei piselli secchi, nelle verdure, nei funghi e nel lievito di birra. Il fabbisogno giornaliero varia dai 15 ai 100 mg al giorno. Gli sportivi e chi ha un dispendio energetico elevato necessita di più mg. Una sua carenza è molto difficile, può avvenire solamente in rari casi tra cui un consumo eccessivo di albume, antagonista delle biotina. I sintomi di una sua carenza sono stanchezza, nausea e problemi alla pelle.
