La crioterapia è una terapia utilizzate in ambito fisioterapico. Consiste nell’utilizzo del freddo, una sorta di sauna gelata, ed è usata dagli atleti professionisti per svariati motivi:
-Smaltimento delle tossine
-Riduce l’infiammazione
-Migliora la qualità del sonno
-Riduce il senso di stanchezza e migliora il recupero
-Aiuta a smaltire eventuali botte (proprio come il ghiaccio)
-Migliora la circolazione sanguigna
Il concetto è molto semplice, il freddo porta moltissimi benefici al corpo umano. E con questa nuova tecnologia si va ad una temperatura davvero rigida.
La crioterapia si serve dell’azoto liquido e la temperatura può arrivare fino a -180 gradi! La terapia consiste nel restare nella sauna gelata per un massimo di 2 minuti. Si arriverà gradualmente a questa tempistica, inizialmente è insopportabile restare fermi a temperature cosi basse.
Con l’azoto liquido ci sono altre terapie che non analizziamo. Ci occupiamo solo della crioterapia per gli sportivi, e dei benefici che si possono avere.
Quando sentite dire che la crioterapia “stimola e velocizza il metabolismo” è in parte vero, nel senso che il corpo umano con il freddo tende a bruciare più calorie, per tenere il corpo in temperatura. La durata della terapia però è talmente breve (per fortuna, si arriverebbe alla morte altrimenti) che non porta nessun aumento significativo del metabolismo.
Tra le principali controindicazioni abbiamo:
La possibilità di piccoli edemi e vescicole che comunque tendono a sparire nel giro di qualche ora.
In alcuni casi possono comparire delle bolle siero-ematiche. Proprio per questo motivo si raccomanda di applicare una crema antibiotica per qualche giorno.
E’ importante non esporsi subito ai raggi solari dopo la terapia, la pelle potrebbe essere sensibile.
Il costo è parecchio elevato e non è alla portata di tutti.
Abbiamo parlato degli infortuni, diciamo che per guarire il prima possibile e riprendere l’attività in tempi brevi, questa terapia può aiutare molto.
