La Bacopa è una pianta indiana utilizzata nella medicina tradizionale da millenni. E’ una pianta piccola, con dei fiori bianchi che cresce nelle zone paludose. Le parti utilizzate sono le foglie e il fusto. Viene utilizzata per ringiovanire e rinforzare le funzioni cognitive. Potenzia la salute in generale e il cervello.
La Bacopa funge da agente neuroprotettivo, è efficace contro alcuni disturbi cognitivi o dell’umore. Migliora la memoria e le capacità cognitive. E’ costituita da vitamina C, flavonoidi e altre sostanze antinfiammatorie e antiossidanti. Questa pianta viene utilizzata per prolungare la vita dei neuroni, in particolare a livello dell’ippocampo (la regione del cervello deputata alla memoria). Funge anche da regolatore di dopamina e serotonina. Uno dei suoi principi attivi (l’herpestina) funge da anti depressivo e rilassante.
La Bacopa ha la capacità di alleviare i dolori muscolari e la fatica. Per questo motivo può essere utile per gli sportivi. Come abbiamo già detto, migliorare gli aspetti cognitivi è molto importante per chi fa sport in quanto migliora di conseguenza la capacità di leggere le situazioni, la reattività di pensiero e di gambe.
Gli effetti positivi della Bacopa sono ben documentati dalla letteratura scientifica. Diversi studi dimostrano la sua utilità e le sue proprietà antiossidanti, antinfiammatorie, antidepressive e rilassanti sono confermate.
Il dosaggio raccomandato va dai 300 ai 450mg al giorno. Gli effetti collaterali indesiderati sono praticamente nulli ma comunque consiglio come sempre di parlare con il proprio medico in caso di volontà di prendere questo integratore.
